Candice's Sickle Cell Fund Board Stories

SBD Media created a short documentary series for the sickle cell advocacy nonprofit Candice's Sickle Cell Fund, to help them tell their organization's story. This episode explores how 3 people with sickle cell disease found a common way to get through school despite the challenges their illness caused for them.

the OwnershiP SERIES

Every year since I started my business, I have used video to highlight Black entrepreneurs for Black History Month. I started it while in college in 2019, creating a 1 minute video feature on fellow Black student entrepreneurs on my campus. My audience was primarily based on Instagram so I needed each feature to fit within Instagram’s 1 minute video time frame. Then in 2020, IGTV came around so I increased the features to 2 minutes each, and included behind the scenes footage of the entrepreneurs in action with their business. In 2021, I took it up a notch by creating a short documentary called “Ownership” to tell a broader story about why it actually makes a difference to own and buy from Black owned businesses, and how young Black entrepreneurs are changing the business game.

2022

Episode 2 in the "Ownership" short documentary series focuses on how access to grant funding affects the financial opportunities of Black owned businesses in New York, and how more Black entrepreneurs can tap into this lesser-known, but very valuable, resource of capital

2021

Short documentary called "Ownership" about why it actually makes a difference to own and buy from Black owned businesses, as told by young Black entrepreneurs who are changing the business game.

2020

2 minute features on fellow Black student entrepreneurs at Stony Brook University, including behind the scenes footage of the entrepreneurs in action with their business.

2019

1 minute features on fellow Black student entrepreneurs at Stony Brook University to briefly discuss their business and give advice.
